Payment of interest: For sole traders and individual partnerships interest will be paid without tax deducted (gross). If the total amount of interest you receive in any tax year exceeds any Personal Savings Allowance to which you’re entitled, you may have tax to pay at the applicable rate. This would need to be paid directly to HMRC. For more information, please visit gov.uk and search for ‘Personal Savings Allowance’. For corporate customers interest will be paid gross.
Fixed term: Five years.
Minimum initial deposit (Existing savers): £5,000.00 – the deposit in the CITR9 account must not exceed the 1.00:0.5 basis.
Minimum initial deposit (New savers): £10,000.00 – the deposit in the CITR9 account must not exceed the 1.00:0.5 basis.
Maximum deposit: £666,667.00 can be placed in a qualifying CITR account 9th Issue.
Withdrawals: No withdrawals for the first three years. See the CITRA 9th Issue Key Features document for information about amounts that can be drawn without penalty thereafter.
Paying money in: Initial deposit can by cheque, UK debit card or electronic transfer. Additional payments to the account cannot be made once it has been opened.
Number of account holders: One.
How we calculate interest: Interest is calculated daily and added to your account on a quarterly basis in March, June, September and December.
What would the estimated balance be after 60 months based on a £5,000 deposit? Based on an interest rate of 0.10% gross, the estimated balance on a £5,000 deposit after 60 months would be £5,025.06. This illustrative example assumes no withdrawals, no changes to the managed interest rate over the period and interest is paid and compounded quarterly. (The illustrative example does not take into account the individual circumstances of a customer).
