Climate Change and Environmental Impact

“We view climate change and environmental impact as significant and urgent social challenges. Recent rises in energy prices have made this an economic issue for our customers and their beneficiaries as well as an environmental one.” – Ed Siegel, Chief Executive

Healthy Planet

In 2022, we integrated ‘healthy planet’ into our vision statement and prioritised growing our green lending portfolio. We consider Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors alongside traditional financial measures in investment decisions.

Net Zero

We publish details of our operating emissions and the emissions financed by our loans in our annual accounts. Since 2023, we have offset our measured operating emissions through credits purchased from Forest Carbon. Our Net Zero working group leads our journey towards environmental sustainability and achieving net-zero emissions, aiming to enhance our sustainability culture and drive us towards a low-carbon economy.

Fossil-Free

Charity Bank is a member of the Fossil-Free Alliance, committed to divesting from fossil fuels and promoting renewable energy. We have signed the Climate Change Commitment sponsored by the Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV) and are active members of The Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF). Our Green Level accreditation from Investors in the Environment (iiE) is the highest level awarded and underscores our commitment to reducing our operating emissions.

Our Values

Established in 2002 as an independent regulated bank, we have become a trusted partner for social sector organisations and people who want to make the world a better place.
