RCCG The Chapel of Courage: Helping new churches to thrive

There are thousands of RCCG churches across the globe, including almost 900 in the UK. Read more.

Social Problem

Newly established churches often struggle to buy premises because they don’t qualify for a mortgage. It can also be difficult to get planning permission to use a business property as a place of worship. As a result, can end up paying high rental fees for premises that aren’t fit for purpose.

Organisation

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) was founded in Nigeria in 1952. There are now thousands of RCCG churches across the globe, including almost 900 in the UK. RCCG The Chapel of Courage is based in the London Borough of Havering.

Loan

RCCG The Chapel of Courage has had two loans from Charity Bank. The first was used to buy a property in Wolverhampton, which the local RCCG church now rents. The second was used to purchase a property in Stoke-on-Trent, which is let to a charity and the local RCCG church. Once the Wolverhampton and Stoke-on-Trent churches are more established, they will be able to buy the properties from RCCG The Chapel of Courag

Impact

Hundreds of people worship at the RCCG Wolverhampton and Stoke-on-Trent churches every week. RCCG welcomes everyone, but most church members come from an African, Pentecostal background.

“Charity Bank are authentic. They are sincere. If you can’t provide exactly what they’re asking for, they’ll support you and explain how to get to the level they’re expecting. They make borrowing easier, and they’re happy to do it.”

Pastor Joseph Omotayo of RCCG The Chapel of Courage
